“Gaia” by: David “DJB0Y3000” Bermillo III

Company: Insomniac Events
Event: Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas 2017
Event Dates: June 16th, June 17th, June 18th 2017

EDC made it’s debut in Los Angeles, California back in 1997. This event started out as a single stage event with only a few thousand attendees, but as each year passed, the event kept returning and kept growing. From moving to larger venues to accommodate the increasing number of attendees, to adding more stages to allow for more variety in music, the Electric Daisy Carnival has seen substantial growth over the past 20 years.

In June, 2017 EDC will return to Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate it’s 21st anniversary.

Insomniac Events and its founder Pasquale Rotella, along with thousands of headliners, will witness an event unlike anything ever witnessed before! Night owls from across the globe will reunite together under the Electric Sky, and the world will see how far the underground rave scene has come and what kind of community the rave scene really is.

“Third Eye Stage Owl”

This owl is an upgraded version of my EDC 2016 stage owl. This time around I decided to have the wings extended out instead of closed and to the sides of the owls body. By doing this, I was able to use more elements from the various EDC stages. My goal with this owl was to mimic the feathers as much as possible. Although I could have used more pieces from my previous owl, I challenged myself to use new elements and previously used elements in new ways.

In this owl I used stage pieces from 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Some of the stage include bassPOD, circuitGROUNDS, and kineticFIELD.

Gaia or Gaea is also known as Mother Earth. Earlier this year it was revealed that the EDC mainstage (kineticFIELD) would feature a statue of Gaia, and I used that information to help me figure out what I was going to create and how I was going to lay everything out. In the reveal it was said that owls would protect the statue of Gaia, and I wanted to create that image for this promo. The Mother Earth statue appears to have been a part of the mountain she sits on, and because this event takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, I decided to surround her with Vegas hotels.
